Is she pulling on the leash, or is she just walking this way? If she's pulling try a choke collar, and hold the leash high up on the neck to keep her in control.

A head collar may help with pulling, too. Does she walk on her hind legs off the leash?

She might just not like the feeling of the lead pulling on her throat and is trying to go upwards to relieve the pressure.

How tight do you have her collar?
You should be able to slip 2 fingers underneath it, if it's more or less it needs adjusting.

You might want to try something like a halti so there is no pressure on her neck at all until she gets used to walks.

Gotta spread the love, Shaz, but that's what I was referring to as a head collar. Knowing what it's called is why you're the expert.

Don't apologise. I didn't know what it was called. Showing a picture removes doubt about what we meant.

Jennifer, if you could answer our queswtions we might be able to provide better advice.

Also calles gentel leaders, but they have the cheaper 'generic' brands at Wal mart, always though the Halties were the ones that went over their chests, I think they have 100 different names lol. Head collar works too.

Head collar sounds less confusing
I just typed Halti into google to find that image, being in Aus is hard sometimes because we call products different things to you guys!

So, we're all on the same page now about the collar. Whew!

Jennifer, does she get enough exercise? Spaniels are very active dogs. They're bred to go through the woods hunting. At 5 months she's ready to take on the entire outdoors this afternoon.
