    Pit bull questions and answers about tips to help found dogs gain weight?
    I found a 2-3 month old pit bull how can I help her gain weight she's extremely skinny. I gave her a vitamin shot and she's been on pedialyte and on dog food with 28% protein and 18% fat but it doesn't really help she only eats twice a day. Her stomach gets big when she eats but she's not growing...

    Have you tested for internal parasites?

    She needs to go to the vet for worm and flea meds. She will also need her vaccines asap. She needs to be on a high quality puppy chow, if not holistic, then one for large breeds. If she was a stray her body is going to take time to adjust to her new life. Street life can be very stressful for a young dog. Have the vet OK her, feed her, giver her lots of exercise, have her socialized right away and she will be fine.

    We adopted a pitbull mix almost a year ago. She is so sweet and easy going. We've NEVER heard her growl or show ANY kind of doToday, she jumped out of the car and beelined to a small dog being walked several yards away and brutally attacked it. We are dumbfounded. Why would she just snap like that? Please help... we are devistated.inance or aggression. She loves people and gets along with other dogs.

    I work in a vet clinic and am very familiar with the breed. In fact one of the technicians here rescues pit bulls. The experience is that most pit bulls are very sweet and loving with their families, however, they were originally bred to kill other animals, so there is a risk that something will trigger their kill instinct. And it is unpredictable. Always be cognizant when small children or other animals are around. You will not always be able to predict what will trigger their kill instinct. Make sure you have a secure fenced yard and when out for walks, secure collar/leash and muzzle.

    You will need to keep her secure and on a short leash, and be very mindful of other people coming into your home.
    Aggressive dogs will keep you on your toes and you won't be able to afford to drop your guard.
    Some training may be helpful, talk to your vet about the problem and see if there is anyone they recommend.
    In the end you are liable for any harm done by your dog.
    How is the little dog that was attacked?
