I have an 8 year old choc lab. In the manner of 2 weeks, he has gone from healthy to having trouble getting up on his back legs. When we took him to the vet,he said our dog needed to lose weight and he would be okay (we agree he is overweight). But the past couple of days, he can no longer stand without falling, he is peeing all the time, and sometimes even on himself. Today he can't even get up to poop. Surely this isn't all because he's overweight (104 lbs). I plan to take him to the vet Mon, but perhaps someone can help me sooner. Thanks

You are exactly right to think that this isn't all due to a weight problem. The things you mention can be symptomatic of any number of things, so it would be reckless of me to try to hazard a guess on the strength of what you've told us so far. I am so relieved to know that he'll be going back to the vet on Monday. I do hope that you'll come back and let us know what the vet says and how your boy is doing.

Thank you for your good wishes. I will let you know something Monday. I know this sounds bad, but I hope the vet takes blood and finds some kind of infection that's causing this. That way we can give him a shot to make him feel better. :(
