hi there,a new pitbull moved in next door,we have a duplex,ajoining walls and yard,they biullt a 4ft fence for dog,very worried ,i have 5 cats and a dog that hasalresdy been attacked first week from pitbull,we have become friends with owner,there dog growls at my husband and i ,along with there other fiiends,even growls at owners,i dont think this is normal,they say he is all growl no bite,we tried taking them on walks together but the pit bull will not relax,i have been attacked by one before and i am worried not only for my cats but dog too,cant believe lanlord put us in this postition,we want to say something to landlord without upsetting are neighbor,the dog has alredy pinned one of are friend in corner of are complex,thanks so much,heidi

Voice your concerns to the landlord. These people should also have some kind of insurance since they own a pitbull. In Florida there were many pitbull attacks on children and the dogs would shread the child's face horribly and permanently disfigure the child with other injuries. Yes, the more the dog is around your cats and your other dog, the more aggressive it will become. If it has already cornered a friend - it knows that humans can be cowed and will continue this behavior. You should notify your landlord in writing and keep a copy of the letter just in case it destroys or seriously injures one of your animals or you or your husband. Vet and human bills can be expensive. I was bitten by accident by my one shepard years ago on my hand between the knuckles. That injury hurt so bad I passed out from the pain. My hand did not heal completely up for at least a year and I had problems typing for about a year. Dog bites are no fun. Are you so concerned about being friends with someone or more concerned about how much possible pain this dog can/will cause you and your pets? It's time to speak up now before the damage is done. A 4' fence won't keep a dog properly confined. It will soon learn how to hoist itself up on the chain links and over the top in a flash.

I agree with twink. Trying to be friendly with the owners is not going to help you. This is a dog that is a great danger. If he even growls at his owners, then that shows that either he has not been trained, socialized or that he has deep issues that they do not have the expertise to handle.
You should call the health department, animal control or police each time there is an incident. If I were you I would be trying to move and I would also get the advice from a trainer that was used to working with dangerouse animals to see how I could offer my animals and myself some protection until I could make other arrangement.
