min pin puppy - crate training

hey everyone i have a few questions about crate training and my puppy. my husband and i just got a 6 week old min pin and last night was her first night at our home and we put her in her crate and at every hour she would cry for 35 mins then stop then do it all over again. and she peed in the crate too and its small like everyone told me and she still peed.

What should I do? I have read to put some toys in there and move the crate into our bedroom but my husband has to be up at 4am every morning and i dont want her to cry all night and wake him.

Any help will be so wonderful! She already knows to pee and poop outside but every time i put her in the crate for naptime or anything she hates it....someone please help!

thats the hardest part but yet easy if u can separate emotions if she cries let her ignore her if she pees let her be she will eventually realize that its ur rules not hers

thanks soo much!!

shes starting to learn quickly..since my last post she cries for 10 mins when i initially put her in there and after that she only cries to go out when she needs to relieve herself... she has been very good...

but sometimes when i take her out to pee i give her 5 mins and if she doesn't i bring her back inside but then she justs pees/poops on the carpet... what can i do to reduce her doing this??

If she hasn't gone out in a while, you should know that she needs to go potty. Most puppys need to atleast go pee every hour and they need to go poo a little while after they eat. Sometimes it seems like forever for my puppy to go potty outside but I know he needs to. One time I was out there for about 15 minutes just waiting and walking around but he finally went (yeah)! The bad luck of the situation is that if I wouldn't have waited he probably would have came back in and went in the house. They are still learning to be potty trained so it will take them a little while to go outside. The best thing to do is to just be patient with them, especially while it is still warm, so she can get the hang of it before winter.

Good Luck and she sounds like a smart puppy so I'm sure she will catch on quick!!

She is just a puppy, she will have accidents. Just make sure your consistent and you praise the good stuff. And maybe tonight check what time it is when she whines and needs to go out and set yourself an alarm. That way the next time she doesn't wake you up the alarm will and you can take her out any way. Also as she gets older she won't need to go out as often, but you have a little while before that happens.

yea i did that last night i woke up when she usually whines waited and she didn't, so i went down there and took her out. I always praise her for going outside and give her treats. I am just worried why she doesn't wake me up anymore. I made her kennel smaller so she wouldn't eliminate in there and she didn't last night even when i thought i didn't wake up in time. I'm just worried why shes not crying to let me know?! and is it bad i take her out when she doesn't whine for me? is that making her think i will already know? haha sorry so many questions i just want to do this the right way! =]

thank you for all your help!! =]

Patience and persistance is the key...and bear in mind that Min.Pins can be harder to train and they have a stubborn streak a mile long..I know I have one...I got her when she was 9 years old and had to potty train her and it took me nearly a month.I had another one and he was easy to train, and him being a boy really surprised me and he was a little over a year old when I got him.Hang in there you'll get it.
