How do I train a 10 year old dachshund not to go to the bathroom in the house?

It is meant for young puppies, but a paragraph at the end discusses the differences with an older dog.

just like you would a puppy take him out alot and when it's time to take him out to go to the bathroom, say do you have to go potty or something very simaler to that, then eventualy when you say that he'll go to the door by himself

is this a sudden thing or have you just got the dog like the others say take it out after meals and naps like you would a puppy lots of praise for going out side ignore what it does inside just clean it up and make no fuss it might be a cry for attention so if you ignore the negative and praise good he will soon catch on otherwise a trip to the vet to ensure he hasn't got an infection might be an idea hope this helps
