Dog takes hours to go to bathroom
MY dog has a tendency to not be regular with his bowel movements. He is ten weeks old and I have been charting his potty habits the last week.

Blue will eat dinner at 6 PM and I will take him out every 30 minutes afterwards. Sometimes it takes three hours for him to deficate. The longest has been 8 hours.

Then sometimes he'll eat at 6 PM and go three times in an hour.

He had roundworms which was treated with Panacur last week. He does go a lot, just not regular.

    Would this be considered abnormal?

I don't think it's abnormal, in time he will become more regular - my dogs have always become extremely predictable by 18 months. Take him for a longer walk or get him really running in the backyard. The more they move around, typically the quicker they "go". I know he's just a baby still, but try to increase his movement when outside. Can you post a picture of Blue? I'd love to see him, we all love puppies! :)

As long as he is pooping regularly (by regularly I mean daily, not at a certain time) and his stools appear firm I would say he is fine.

Their stools should be not too soft and not too hard (you should be able to tell by appearance, don't worry ;) )

Firmer stools help the dog release its anal glands each time it defecates reducing the risk of them becoming impacted and needing to be emptied.

Mine don't go like clockwork and they are both well over a year old, I swear they hold it in until we go to the park just so I have to use the doggy poop bags

Thanks for the responses. I would love to post a picture, but unfortunately I don't know how. I have tried, and they say I have to resize the picture.

Blue's mom is not computer savvy.
