My dog has an itchy butt
I just recently noticed that my dog has been licking his butt and dragging his butt across the floor for about 2 days now.

Why is he doing that and what can I do to help fix the problem quick?!

I don't like seeing him uncomfortable like this.

    Hi, marielle3!

It could be any number of reasons, and if you click on the following search, you'll find some of them.

Dog Worms Drags Butt - Google Search

There are some people on this site who are really good with answering questions about dogs, cats and other pets. Hopefully, they'll be along to address your question personally.

It is Friday night for some of them though...

    Thanks!

Your dog could have worms, or could have anal sac problems. They have the sacs near their rectum that can sometimes get agitated and swollen and itchy.. it's best to see your Veterinarian for the proper diagnosis

Dogs have glands in their anus and sometimes they can get infected or even just fill up. Usually the glands empty themselves when the dog poops but sometimes nature isn't always so kind. You can squeeze them yourself by squeezing on either side of them anus and pushing outward, but I highly recommend getting a vet to do it, it can be tricky and very very very messy and stinky!

    Adding to the above.
Some dogs have this issue often in their lives and changing diet can help in some cases and in some nothing but surgery helps.

If the dog is prone to this issue you can ask a Vet to show you how and if it would be all right for you to do it.
Also most Groomers do this when they groom a dog At least most Good groomers do.

There is surgery also that can be done if it becomes really bad often.
This can get infected and cause major pain for the dog So please get him in soon to get it taken care of.
