The best thing you can do for her is to get her to the vet. This lump has me worried and it needs to be checked out pronto.

My taffy, who is 11 now, started getting soft lumps at the crease of her leg. The vet said nothing to worry about and can't be removed because they are two full of blood vessels. Our vet is one of the best in the area, so trust her advice.

I am saying that sometimes older dogs get these soft lumps, but I sure that his vet will confirm what it is.

As for the coughing. Taffy coughs from time to time and I believe it is a piece of food lodged in her throat (it happens to us too). Dogs cough for many reasons. But you know it all depends on how well the dog has been cared for over the years, regular vet appt when something is wrong, etc.

When something expensive comes along for Taffy, I can usually replace the meds vet sells at the health food store. The last was glucosomine/condtroitin which was $70 for 25 at the vet, health food store sold 150 for $25 and it is administered by weight. This was when she had a stretched tendon.

    So there you go !

Have you been keeping your dog on heartworm medication? It may be something minor like lodged food, but I've also seen dogs with heartworms that would cough and hack constantly.
