My 12 year daschund started doing something odd. It's kind of like an inward sneeze and kind of like a snort. He does it more aand more and seems very scared when he does it. It has done it even while sleeping. it wakes us both up. I'm afraid he will stop breathing

It could be some sort of a respiratory infection. I wouldn't let it go into the weekend. Maybe better to make an unnecessary visit Thursday or Friday than be trying to find a vet on Sunday.

My mini weenie, Pebbles was 14 when she started the same thing. The vet told us she had heart failure and only two months to live. She was the same as she always was, a great happy dog, but when that sound, snort would start, it freaked out the whole family. She only lived a month after we found out. She collasped at home (and died in my five year old's arms).

Within one week we had to get another one, for my daughters sake (named Princess). The are the best dogs, but I am going crazy trying to potty train. I was about 12 when I got Pebbles so I do not remember much. This website has helped me so much!
