[B]My family just got a new dachshund puppy and I was wondering how much, what kind, and when to feed it. The puppy is healthy and 13 weeks old.

Make sure you buy a good quality dog chow, I like holistic foods, and start by going with the guide off the back of the bag. I would suggest a scheduled feeding time rather than free feeding, smaller dogs usually are prone to obesity, and this is a good way to prevent.
If you notice your dog not gaining much weight, or still hungry, or not finishing all of what's in his dish, I would increase or decrease 1/4 to 1/2 cup at a time.
I prefer hard food, as it doubles as brushing their teeth. It also helps provide the roughage they need to drain their anal glands on their own. I supply my dogs with Nyla bones and raw soup bones on a weekly basis for an extra treat.
Ideally the breeder should have given you a care sheet and you feed what the puppy has been raised on.
I agree with Bella in starting by following the instruction off the back of the pack as a general guide, but then adjusting it accordingly. Just like humans, dogs have different metabolisms and what is a good amount for one dog may be too much or too little for another.
Puppy feeding schedule is three times a day.
Puppy food is anything that is meant for puppies that you find healthy.
Sounds like your pup is getting along great, follow the guidelines above and you'll have a lifelong companion
