dachshund

I just adopted a 5 year old miniature dachshund. I have noticed that she has not been eating very much. She goes over to her food dish, puts her nose down into it and pushes the food around. What does that mean?

I am very curious, what are you feeding your dachshund? mine is about 5 1/2 years old now, I got him when he was a puppy.
There is a book to help you understand your dachshund more, you can get it at the library or any book store it's called --------- Dachshund's for dummies, I have it and it has helped me out a lot.
I have been feeding mine,Iams mini chunks since day one.
Try it, also try putting some into your hand and try feeding your dog that a way, this always seem to help, try doing this until your dog wants to eat on her own.
good luck, let me know how you do.

I have an 8 year old miniature dachshund... .and the older he gets the less he needs to eat,,, sometimes he pushed his food sround to get the kibbles he wants.. haha But I would suggest to put in some soft food to see how he eats it.... does he have problems with his teeth, does he have different bowel movements, is he more moody? Things things are also signs of something being wrong...
