blood in my puppy stool

I have 9 week puppy. We bought her home when she was 8week old. First week she was vomiting and had diarrhea. So we have to take her to vet and admitted her in the hospital for iv. Next day we bought her home and she started acting like puppy. past few days we started noticing blood in her poop. I took the poop to the doctor for the checkup and test came negative for parasites and Parvo virus. I don't know what to do. I am worried. Please help me

I would get back with the vet Monday. Blood in stool is a problem. Could be worms, but that doesn't require an emergency visit.

I agree with labman. I am not clear on why the vet didn't do further testing or gave you any direction when the tests came back negative with the blood apparent in the stool. If he has hours today, I would call his office this morning and report to him that blood is still in the stool and ask him what should be done about it. It appears you are going to have to stay on top of your vet. If he doesn't have any constructive answers, find another vet. Part of our job as pet owners is to manage our pets healthcare as we would manager our own. If my doctor didn't have an answer for my problem, I find another doctor who is willing to be proactive about it. Please let us know how your pup is doing.

I actually just got a new puppy July 28, 2007 and had the same problem. I took him to the vet twice and had him tested for parvo - negative. My vet told my puppies often get a little bit of colitis (a condition humans can have) which will result in a bit of blood in the stool (usually and the end of the stool). My puppy had severe diarhea, eventually so bad that it looked like redish-brown water. I was given some anti-biotics for him : Novo-Loperamide (every 12 hours for four days) and Metronidazole (once daily for a week). These pills really seemed to help. One was to ease his upset stomach and the other was for the diarhea. Within 4 days his stool was solid and he was eating more and was much more active. Both vets that I took him to attributed his condition to the stress of being in a new home. Your puppy likely needs to get to know you and your home and become familiar with a routine and then you will see a change. Good luck - I know the stress and worry that you must be going through. I was so stressed during that time that I couldn't eat either!

What works for one dog may or may not be right for others with similar symptoms.
