About my pregnant dog

I have a 3 year old mutt, chow lab mix.. she's the type of dog that likes to roam around all over the place and sure enough when she was in heat, some random dog got ahold of er....and now she's pregnant

I'm not sure when it happend but she sure is showing now...and producing milk when I give her a tiny pinch....

My question is ... are there any risks of a random dog impregnating my dog? and are there a certain way to tell how many puppies she has by feeling around? and about how far along is she if she's producing milk---i've heart 1-2 weeks before whelping...

This is the reason that dogs need to be spayed and nuetered. Animal overpopulation is at appalling numbers and animals are being murdered just because pet owner's cannot shell out $60 to get their animal fixed. Pet ownership is a big responsibility. Dogs should also not be allowed to roam around town. You would be awful upset if she got hit by a car. I'm sorry to be so blunt and rude. But this irritates me. I spend my teen years as a volunteer in a human society and have watched countless animals killed simply because their paren't owners didn't want to pay to have them fixed.

katieperez agrees: Good points. I don't think you were rude, I'm with you on this.

As for your question, get her to a vet ASAP! She needs a check up to make sure all is well and the vet can answer your questions and further instruct you. This site really isn't the place to start, as most of the people here do rescue work and are against the acts of irresponsible pet owners such as yourself.

ChihuahuaMomma agrees: I agree....You are right in everything...especially the vet. TAKE YOUR DOG TO THE VET!

I am one more voice against irresponsible breeding. Yes if you let a female in heat roam she likely will breed with any male she finds and likely be pregnant by at least one. All sorts of damage and infections are possible . As above, get her to the vet.

Get her spayed before her next season. There is no excuse for not doing so.
