6 month old miniature dachshund won't eat her own food
We have a six month old miniature dachshund and a 2 year old lab mix and the dachshund only wants to eat the lab's food and not her own and when we're finally able to keep her away from his food she refuses to eat her own. Is there some way to get her to eat her food and not want his? It's getting frustrating because she'll go days without eating her own food after eating his.

If you are feeding the Dachshund a puppy chow, you could switch it over to same adult chow as the Lab mix. It is common to switch large breeds over to adult chow early. It slows growth allowing more time to develop sturdy joints. With their tendency to back trouble, along with keeping it lean, it might be a good idea.
Even if you do, you need to impose discipline on them at feeding time. I make my 2 dogs sit while I fill their dishes and stay until I put them down. I then stand there between the 2 until they are both finished. The whole feeding routine will go better if you are clearly established as the leader. You can learn to play the role of top dog by reading some books or going to a good obedience class. A good obedience class or book is about you being top dog, not about rewarding standard commands with a treat.
