| 1yr old Male Chihuaha won't sleep Hello, I have a 1yr old fixed male Reindeer Chihuaha. He's a handful. I'd like to recieve information on training. He was origionally found on the street but due to my last studio I could not have a pet. He stayed with my mom and two other dogs for a few months until now. I've moved and now he's with me. I feel that he's a little confused on the current situation, he might have abandonment issues or might be stressed out. At my mom's he was left outside with the two other dogs, and was fed at night.
I take him outside for the potty and to play around 6am and feed him around 7am, then he's alone. For the moment I leave him in the kitchen, blocked with a (baby door), with his toys, music, an old shirt of mine for comfort, a bed, water and hiddin snacks. He cries when I leave him alone. I relieve him on my lunch, sometimes take him back with me to work but for the most part he's alone all day 7am-12pm then 1pm-4:30pm. I make it up to him when I get home, he plays in the yard or we take him for a walk. He eats dinner around 5pm.
I try to have him sleep with my fiance and I but he doesn't relax at all, he's always trying to play. When all else fails I do the same and leave him in the kitchen. He scrathces at the door and cries, basically all night. I'm afraid he's not sleeping, is that possible?
P.S. He has a huge back and front yard to play in. I don't leave him outside for the neighborhood is sketchy and he doesn't know the area well. There are also two cats roaming around, I don't think they like him much. |
