Husband left home but keeps coming back!
Husband left our home back in February and is renting a home for himself elsewhere. He still comes and goes as he pleases every once in awhile. I am very uncomfortable with this. I didn't see him for a month and all of a sudden he was knocking on my window which scared me to death! I don't think it's fair that he can come and go as he pleases when he is not paying any of the bills including the mortgage! Neither of us has filed for divorce yet due to lack of funds! Do you know if there are any laws to protect me of my privacy? Maybe just a temporary restraining order? He is not abusive or threatening (anymore), so I don't believe I can get a restraining order. Help!!

Whether a restraining order might be granted would probably depend some on the judge. Not all these days are if you are actually threatened because of changes in stalker laws. But without some kind of legal document saying he doesn't live there, you might have problems. If divorce is too expensive, maybe try legal separation.

    Good luck.

You can file for an uncontested divorce and last time I heard they cost right around $100.00 and you could split the cost with him.

Change the locks, and tell him if he continues to harass you (by showing up uninvited and unannounced) you will get a restraining order. Not a lawyer- just thinking of what I would do.
    Good luck .

Read other posts, and I think my prior advice was wrong, if he has any ownership of the house. If you change the locks, from what I have read in other posts, he could press charges, as messed up as that is. Still- there should be some boundaries- a specific time and date where he picks up his things, for example- there's no reason for him to just hover around. I would still look into a restraining order if he does continue to harass you, however- you should feel safe in your own home!
