My husband sent a declaration of divorce petition from prison in AZ. It was a no-fault divorce. We have no children together, and he wasn't asking for any splitting of property/assets or anything. He has always been on drugs, in and out of rehab, in and out of jail and has never owed anything, he got 6yrs in prison in AZ for selling drugs to an undercover officer. We were separated when he left for AZ, and have been separated for over 5yrs. I was already settled with my own job, car and house when we met. I didn't protest the divorce petition and figured everything was going to go through. However; I got a letter (from the AZ clerks office) stating that the case would be dissmissed Oct 1, 2009 because they hadn't heard back from the petitioner. Can I now file papers myself from MI, even though he's locked-up in AZ? If so, can I send them certified to a prison? He is not due to get out of prison until 2012.

Yes you can file in MI and yes you can have him served in prison.
