Exspouse cannot get over me

I have been divorced for close to a year. My exspouse cries and says he loves me still. He did not want the divorce. He cries because he cannot stand being alone. What do I say to him. It hurts me to see him hurt but I do not want to go back to him. I tell him he will find someone else and that upsets him more. He is 66 and has a heart condition and says he will not live long enough to find anyone else. He is extemely lonely and he is affecting me.

this might sound harsh, but i assume you had good reason to get a divorce...

does he have family?

dont let him use emotional blackmail to draw you in.

hes a grown man...he is not your responsibility any more.

The best thing you can do is to stop having contact with him. It may sound harsh, but it is in his best interests if you limit, as much as possible, your interactions with him.

Telling him he will find someoen else is not going to help him move on. Closing the door on the relationship however will help him get on with his life.

Sometime a door has to close permanently before a person realizes it's well and truly over.
