Taking advantage of a disabled person
My daughter married this man that is a drinker, and drinks to get drunk. He won't go to work because he uses her money and she pays all the bills and she gets housing so things are cheap for him. All he does is drink beer. And does not pay for anything. She is learning disabled and gets very depressed and she collects ssi and child support for her daughter. They have a 2 year old together and he won't help out with the care of the child they have together. My daughter can't go anywhere with out him calling all the time. He says he won't leave and if he does he won't pay child support because he is has a felony on his record and he just got a dui and lost his car. So he has no car, no job and leaves off her money. What can I do to help, I am her Payee for her money.

There is, unfortunately, little you can do legally. However, as long as you are her payee you CAN withhold money which is not necessary for her support - and, of course, for her daughter's support.

Paying child support and having a felony on his record have nothing to do with each other - fathers owe child support whether they are convicted felons.

Again, if she won't listen to you there is little you can do legally. If she has a social worker that person can talk to her but if she won't listen to you, she won't listen to a social worker.

I think you have to ride this relationship out.

Well knowing that your daughter is mentally/emotionally unstable, her husband has his problems, you could go for child endangerment and get temp custody of the child until they figure everything out and the husband does what he needs to do for himself.
