Sound Card

Hi,
You did not mention the name of your sound card, but here are some things to troubleshoot.
Right click on he speaker icon, bottom right of the system tray. Then Left click on Open Volume Control.
Look to see if there are any checkmarks by Mute. If so, Left click to remove them.
Go to Control Panel, then maybe Multimedia, or something similar, and see if you have the correct set-up for your speakers, maybe 2 or 4.
Go to Start/Programs, then your sound card name, like Creative.
Click on the Speakers, or something similar, and see if the speakers are active, or have been set to the wrong number of them.
Best wishes,
fredg

Another thing to try:
  1. Right click on My Computer and click on Properties
  2. Switch to the hardware tab
  3. You should have a button called "Device Manager" or similar. Click on this
  4. You'll see a list of all the items in your PC. First look for anything classed as "Unknown Devices". If you have anything here, list them for us. If there's something to do with your sound card, then you don't have the correct drivers installed. To fix that, double click on the unknown device, click the update driver button, let it search for the driver on your PC (make sure you sound card install CD is in the CD drive).

Hopefully, that'll get it
