J: not accessible. Parameter is incorrect.
Hi, I recently bought a Maxtor 200 gig 7200rpm DiamondMax 9 SATA 6Y200MO, and partioned it using the maxtor software into 2x 100gig partions, to find out that after copying files to one section of the partion they all corruppted and now the hdd displays this message,

J: not accessible. Parameter is incorrect.

I am running windows xp with SP2 and I have a maxtor IDE 120gig hdd that runs fine as a solid partion, and I also have a maxtor 80gig that runs fine and has 4 partions.

The Hdd worked OK for a couple of days, and then just deteriated, I have deleted and re-created partions with no success. The partions are also in NTFS format. Now when I boot when its pluged in my PC dies, or I get the blue screen of death.

The Jumpers are Correct, the cables have been checked, and I have tried other SATA cables. My motherboard is a Albatron kx18d pro, with nforce2, and I also have a DVD Rom and a 52speed cd burner.

    Please help me, thanks.
If I can't fix it I will have to take it back... 40min drive in the Australian heat... lol

I would just try a single 200 GIG partition and see if that works.
