Help with buying new Socket 478 Motherboard!
    Hi

My motherboard has blown. I can't afford to buy the m/board, cpu, ram and graphics card etc so I need to just replace the board. I am having trouble finding a board that fits my requirements as the Socket 478 seems to be going out of stock everywhere. What I need:

    Socket 478 M/board
    FSB 800
    AGP x8
    Dual Channel would be nice!
    4/5 Pci slots
    4+ USB ports on back

Does anyone know of any motherboards that fit this. Would prefer a good model i.e.. Gigabyte, Asus etc
I will not be doing a fresh build on my PC once I install the new board so am leaning more to Gigabyte as that is what I have at the moment and with all the drivers etc that the board needs will make less of a mess of my resistry.

Any help would be great. Thanks

    Matt

Would recommend you to look in newegg.com or geeks.com you'll probably find a good motherboard combo with processor just don't buy PC chips look for biostar motherboards.

I would just use this time to invest in all new hardware you mobo is out of stock because 478 is a forgoten board literally for less than 500 dollars I've found an emachine at walmart with 3.4 p4 1gig burner and everything else you sound like your going to need the best part about it is it has pci-e (suprised me) agp is dead 478 is dead usb is alive but I myself am a firewire man your computer is decaying

By the way wth do you need 4/5 pci slots have only use 1 myself most cards that use pci you can just have onboard usually (ie sound, ethernet) my mobo itself has a gigabit ethernet and 7.1 sound

I just heard on the T. V. that I am "waisting " (using) energy if I don't unplug my plug-in charger for, e.g. cell phone, rechargeable flashlight, etc. How can that be if I don't have any of these appliances plugged into the charger, drawing current to the appliance?

First of all, yes, I'm putting it in the right place. I know which one is the modem socket and which one is for an ethernet cable. I've used this same socket (is that the best word?) for over a year, and it's been fine. Now, however, my ethernet cable keeps coming out of the socket. I can put...
