Failing to download videos onto my computer from my Sony DCR-TRV330 Camcoder

I am failing to see my camcorder (Sony DCR-TRV330) despite having loaded the USB driver for it. If i open the software that i am using to capture (MGI Viedo Wave III) including the standard moviemaker it says no video capture device has been detected. Can anyone help. I am beginning to wonder if this is possible at all to connect my camcorder direct using the USB cable to my computer. I am running XP Sp2

Did you get the driver here:

http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-list.pl?mdl=DCRTRV330&UpdateType=Everything&Select OS=7

If so, I would contact Sony's tech support for help connecting. Once you plug in the camera it should appear under My Computer as a video capture.

Thats the exact site where i downloaded the USB sony drivers. I managed to see something on this site where someone was saying this model of camera only works if you use a DV-i cable and not USB cable. I am still looking for this cable. I will let you know. Thanks Scott

all you have to do is go to ebay and buy a video capture card. it should come with firewire ports. i bought a video capture card and it came with firewire ports and a cord. once you plug the card into your motherdrive hten the computer will recognize your video camera adn you can capture it! when i ordered the thing off of ebay it also came with ulead video studio 8. mgi videowave 5 sucks. i would use windows movie maker to capture it if i were you.
