    Hello,

Go here to determine why your power button is steady amber:
    Documentation

Go here for the interpretaion of your diagnostic lights (A,B,C,D):
    Documentation

Go here to view/download ALL GX60 documentation:
    Documentation

My opinion: Not knowing the state of your diagnositc lights, I'm leaning towards a bad motherboard; however, the diagnostic lights could lead to a more specific component.

I have a optiplex gx 270 and had the same problem it was the mother board. Try turning it off unplugging it and opening the cover. The problem will probably be the capacitors. Inspect them they should be flat topped if the tops are raised they are blown. They are usyally black cylendrical components with silver tops. If you do not know what to look for get a friend to look. This is a common problem. Solution replace mother board

Actually as a correction/ more info on this. The Dell GX270 motherboard got a huge load of bad capacitors from china. They were in several other mother boards but wasn't nearly as widely circulated so the most common known is the GX270. Dell eventually after much hassling etc so forth replaced the mother boards. But even in the GX280 it didn't have this issue it was just for the 270's that this was a super wide spread issue.(not saying that his mother board couldn't be bad, just that any mobo going bad is rare except in the case of the 270 which was a guarantee). As well on the GX270(and other crappy dells) the PSU is generally 3rd rate from thailand and tend to fail after a year or 2.

As to the color of the power button yes use the manuals to tell you what the color code means. And next time don't buy dell :P

I've had a similar problem but all that was required was to reseed the RAM sticks. So unplug the machine, open up the case, pop out the RAM sticks and put them back in. Usually solves the problem.
