Hello Everyone, I am in real need for help.

I decided to 'upgrade my co,
Basically fitting all new components into my old Soprano case.

So trying: Amd Athlon 64 5200 dual core AM2, boxed
in Abit NF-M2SV Socket AM2 motherboard
w/ Patriot Signature line 2Gb PC6400 DDR2
w/ Sparkle nVidia GeForce 8600GT Calibre 512 PCI Express

w old/ audigy 2 ZS platinum, creative sb
w old/ SATA 276Gb HDD

I connnected everything and with press of power switch ... i realised nothing is happening.
After i almost blushed to death i connected the power button and tried again ... this time fans turned on and Sparkle started displaying something (temperature) on the card, but monitor ... nothing.

So i disassembled the thing and tried again... without connecting case USB, Audio, left out the sound blaster, took the graphics out even and tried with the on-board one only.... nothing.

Last time i re-inserted-rechecked i casued a reversion to the 'do nothing' loop so i will check the powerbutton connection again...

If you have any ideas of what could be wrong, please let me know!

sometimes, not all the component fit on each other. What I mean is..not fit in the case. But it's about on the components could work each other nicely. You should make sure of that before upgrading yr machine!

In this case I think u must try to put all the original set back n tried to turn on again cuz we want to make sure the devices work properly. i.e power supply, monitor n etc. If the old set could work nicely, there are 2 possibilities

1. your chosen components could not fit well to each other
2. one or more of the new component is broke down.

Well there was no sound other than the fans turning on ...
And so far i hope that all the components are cool since i just bought them ... i can only hope.

Be SURE to not let the bottom side of the motherboard rest directly on the side of the case. I had that problem once. If the motherboard came with those little plastic holder things, stick them in the bottom to keep it from touching. It's fine for the areas where you screw the board to the case, but if the rest of the board is resting on it, it can cause shorts. I know when I did mine, as soon as I popped the plastic things in, the board sat high enough to not make contact in those spots, and powered on fine.

i realised that i left one 'support' pin in place but it did not correspond to any 'holes' on the motherboard... thus shorting it out...
Now its all working (well except needed windows re-newal )

I know that bugged the crap outta me until I figured it out. It just doesn't seem like that would do it, hehe
