How did you wipe it off?
Did you manually delete the old programs, did you use the Add/Remove Programs in the control pannel, or did you re-install the OS?

Grab a free copy of CCleaner and clean up your computer.
Defrag your hard drive. Use the built in Windows defrager or I use AusLogics.

CurlyBen has some good maintenance tips:

The only thing I would add/change on his list would be to defrag last after you've removed all the junk (but that's just me) otherwise this is an excellent list.

Curlyben agrees: Cheers for the vote of confidance ;)

I would also check to make sure there are no errors with your display drivers

Right click My Computer, go to Hardware, click Device Manager

They may all be LISTED but are there any with a yellow exclamation mark, or a red X?

I wiped it clean by reformating the drive, re-partioning it and reinstalling windows. I have all the drivers except the multimedia one, but I dont know if that the cause.

Installing the missing driver is the place I would start. Also make sure that your drivers are up to date.

Hehe, Im actually tring to do that. I have a post on a different thread asking for help with that driver. Evidently this multi media driver is a huge pain in the butt too. It seems that it has to do more with sound, but I hope you are right. Maybe if I get this missing driver then every thing will be ok...I hope

You could also try to update directx...I had a problem with not being able to load direct3d once, and my video card didn't do very well with anything else.
