Stained Teeth

I have recently noticed brownish stains on my bottom teeth that start at my gums and go about half way up. I brush twice a day, use mouthwash, and a tongue scraper to clean my mouth, but don't floss as much as I should. Who does?! I am a smoker, but have been for a while and never have had this problem before. I have been on a health kick lately where I stopped drinking soda, cut out fast food and fried food, and try to eat a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables. I also began taking a Men's One a Day vitamin, along with a vitamin C pill. I have two whey protein shakes a day and at least 32 ounces of milk a day. I figured if anything, my teeth should be healthier. Is there any reason that any of this would contribute to my teeth staining????

What kind of mouthwash are you using? If it contains chlorahexadine that is what could be causing the staining. Try using a Sonicare toothbrush if you aren't already and concentrate it on the stained area.

It's Listerine antiseptic with tartar control mouthwash. I didn't see cholrahexadine as a listed ingredient. I've thought about trying a sonicare toothbrush before, I just use a regular manual brush now. Maybe I'll give that a shot.
