piece of metal in root canal

Hi, a piece of metal fell into root canal. is it dangerous or could it be left there? thanks, NK

Hi Nina,
Did the drill bur or file break while the dentist was doing the root canal? This does happen occassionally. There is a good chance that you will have no problem with your root canal but an xray should be taken every couple of years to be sure there is no infection at the tip of the root.

i know that most times when you have a root canal they put in a post. is this what you are talking about?
