Loss of Taste Buds

What can be done for a loss of taste buds at the end of the tongue for sweetness? Most everything tastes salty, spicy or sour. This occurred after a severe illness with large dosages of steroids.

I'm thinking time is needed. What has your MD recommended? I wish I had an answer for you but will continue looking. Sorry I couldn't be more help. Hopefully J_9 will have an answer.
