What does his behaviour mean

I was with a guy a while back for nearly 6months.
Then all of a sudden (one day we were together normally, then the next we weren't) he just totally stopped inviting me out and started treating me differently.
He kept talking to me, but making cruel comments occasionally.
Now he's started talking to me like i'm his best friend again.
Im really angry at him, but i was in love with him and think about him a lot still.
I know i shouldn't accept this, but sometimes i think i still want him back.
What should i do?
And why would he start doing this?

It would help me a lot if anyone could give suggestions of why some guys act like this.

i kno exactly how u feel. i think he acted that way because he might of needed space & started to see you as a friend.i hate it when boys do that!but for now maybe u guys should be juz friends. ANSWER MY QUESTION
