What do you call someone you like/love?
Can you tell how much someone likes you and what their intentions are depending on what he or she calls you? I mean someone you have known for a while, but not been physical with yet.

For example, if a guy says 'hey sexy' you obviously know what he has in mind.
But what about babes, baby, sweetie, sweetheart, boo, honey..

Do guys use different names for their girls they're just friends with and the girl they like/love?

Some guys may use one name for friends and another for their girlfriend, others may not. Every guy is different, especially when it comes to age/maturity.

A friend of mine (male, late 30's) calls all females, young and old alike "gorgeous".
This could be read differently depending on the female. Some may be quite sensitive and think he kind of likes them and others may not think twice about it.

The best way to tell what his intentions are is by giving it time or ask him straight out. Look for other signs too. A simple "Hey sexy" can just mean "you look really good today" but couple that with hands or eyes all over your ### could definitely mean something more.

Some men actually think women like to be talked to this way. For YEARS I greeted every woman in my life, "Hey gorgeous!"

I don't know why, I just did. (*shame*)

This means only one thing, your friend is a dumb guy. You will never discern anything meaningful from what he says in a greeting.

You could just ask him out if YOU are interested in him. No greeting needed.

I think it depends on the guy. When I am dating someone we tend to use the words baby huney etc. I think sweetheart and sexy are more general. But then again, it depends on the context of how he uses it. Go with your gut feeling. Is there a connection between you too? Does he use the pet names in a sincere way? Or more so "hey sweetheart what's goin on"...

Some guys think (or at least use the excuse) that they call all girls sweetie, honey, baby, gorgeous or whatever to boost a girls confidence and give her something to smile about in their day.
Like the others said it depends on the guy. I think if they are meaning more into it then you should be able to tell by the way they say it to you, or their body language or something. If they call all girls baby and you something else, like sweetie, maybe that is a special term because you mean more to them.
