online dating;why is he taking so long to reply to my e-mails ?

hi,
just started online dating and didnt add photo until i had exchanged 3 e-mails with Tom.
he would take 2 or 3 days to reply to my e-mails and when i added my photo i was concerned he wouldnt like it.
however he replied saying "cool photo" but his e-mail was still short and telling me very little about himself.
he works very long shifts but i know he has had last 3 days off and yet hasnt replied to my last e-mail.
my e-mails are always slightly longer than his and i always try to show some interest in his life by asking several questions.
however he keeps his replies so short i am wondering why he even bothers.
am i being overanxious ?
i am fairly sure he is being honest as he has made no great claims about anything and has told me where he lives and works.
is there an etiquette involved with online dating ? i am a very communicative person and constantly on phone and email to my friends and i was honestly hoping Tom would be emailing me at least every second day.
should i ask him outright what he is looking for or is it too early ?
i said in my online profile i disliked clinginess so perhaps i have scared him off getting in touch too often.
i guess i should just hold tight and wait for his next e-mail (scared of sounding desperate !)
i should add that we are both in our thirties and hard working professionals.

please advise !!!

You are most likely not the only girl he is communicating with. Such is the way, often times, in online relationships. He plays the field - does enough to keep you interested and on the hook, while he is still checking the other females out. Men are not the only ones who do that - women do that too. Playing the game. Being a player and then you get played.

After three emails? I would not expect much. His lack of communication, the brevity of his emails - speaks louder than words. Just do not get your hopes up with this guy. Take this as a friendship and you may do well. Try and get some other kind of relationship going, and you may well find yourself wondering what went wrong.
