i just got dumped by a guy i truely care about and he claims to still love me too yet he dumped me for another girl. why would he dump a girl he says he loves for a girl he only likes?

yes. it hurts, GET OVER IT. cause obviously he doesnt love you.
he MOVED ON. so you do the same. or its jus gonna hurt more an more, and youre just gonna keep hurting yourself.

yes it hurts, he does not really love you, or he would not be leaving you, something you have to learn and this is the hard lesson, men lie ( as do women) but first they lie to get into bed with you, and then they lie when they are breaking up to try and make you feel better ( or thier idea of it.) and sometimes they try and leave a door open incase the next adventure does not work out, or some where to come back for an occassional sex if they get the chance

I was in the same sittuation with the same guy like 3 times. If Im right whats happing is that hes saying that he still loves you is because when he's done with the other girl and can go back with you.So basically he might be using you as his second wheel.So therefore my advice would be If he comes back to you dont let him.nobody deserves to be the second wheel
