Is it legal fo a 13 year old to date a 16 year old?
Well, as you can see i like this boy that is 16 and i don't know if it is legal for me to date him. he says it is but i want to know wether it is true or not.

It would be illegal for him to have a sexual relationship with you.

Perhaps by a relationship with you he meant he could not as he would expect it to be a sexual one which as stated would mean he is breaking the law.

I guess the answer would come down to local law as to where you live.

I do not believe it is illegal for you to be dating this guy, as the law stands in my own country - but it would be illegal if you two where doing more than just dating.

I really think at 13 you should worry more about your grades then guys.

Sorry hun read it wrong - he said it was legal and yes it is that you can have a relationship with him.

Maybe this is something you should discuss with your parents. Laws vary from state to state and this sounds like an issue they should be involved in, whether you like this boy or not, the differences between 16 and 13 are alot. I would assume you don't even attend the same school as you would be in 8th grade and he would be in high school... how did you even meet?

I know at 13 it is flattering that someone older likes you, but don't be in such a hurry to grow up.

i meant to say that he said it was illegal. i live in Mitchell,SD and i dont know what the dating laws are. i have good grades when and when im not dating.

I have no idea about the laws in your country I am in the UK - But despite anything I think you should try to forget about dating older guys .

If he said it was illegal, he is making a mature decision to not get involved. Follow his lead and leave it at a crush. You do not need to date this boy.

Tell me if I am wrong but I would think a 16 year old would want more out of a relationship than a 13 year old would.

AND NO ''''''' I am not saying all boy's are that way inclined but ----- stay a child for as long as you can boys and dating will be there in years to come .
