Will it hurt? Yes, the first few times it will hurt physically. If you're not really mature enough for this it is going to hurt emotionally for a lot longer.

What's the best protection? Distance. The farther your private parts are away from someone esle's, the safer you are.

the best protection is not to do it. it's guarenteed abusolutly free, and no one gets hurt. EVER, once you get married thats ok but untill you are don't do it.
if your a minor it's not legal (witch i suspect you are) but if your and adult it's your choice, but why risk getting her pregnant when you can wait? and why worry about protection if you don't have to? and are you prpared to be a husband, father, and care taker, to you have enough money to support a family for the next 18 years? like i said the best protection is not to do it.
and come back and ask about how girls like it when your married (if you need to ha ha ha )

And no one has mentioned the possibility of contracting a STD (Sexually transmitted disease). Are you prepared to live the rest of your life with one? There are a lot of them out there that there is no cure for and can lead to you never being able to have children, let alone kill you.

the best protection is that you dont use protection as in meaning not to have sex at all ...

you seem like you not ready at all...and yes it will hurt and it hurt alot more if you not ready
