I hate dating! But I want a relationship

I cannot stand dating..all of my longer lasting relationships were someone I had been friends with prior, or i met them at work. I signed up to this eharmony crap, and it gave me 4 people to choose from, and they all lived like 20 miles away. I just want to meet somebody local, but my new job requires me to be stuck in a small house with only my boss all day. Also i'm new in town so I dont have a network of friends to set me up or help me meet.

1. Join a church and partake of their social activities.
2. Become a volunteer at an animal shelter, a hospital, a nursing home, a public library.
3. Call your local chamber of commerce to get contact names and phone numbers of area clubs and organizations that would appeal to you.
4. Take a class at the community college that serves your area.
5. Visit your public library to find out about upcoming programs, reading groups, tutoring, literacy training and tuturing, gaming groups, etc.

All of the above can be involvements in the evenings and/or on weekends.

Wondergirl had some good ideas. Another place is the driving range. Lots of guys hang out there and are willing to give tips. So right away you have something to talk about. Most courses have a grill for a cool beverage when you are finished hitting. Even if you don't play, rent or borrow some clubs. Oh yeah, most right handed golfers wear a glove on their left hand, so you won't see a wedding ring.

talaniman agrees: LOL, about the glove.
huno agrees: LOL, about the thinking he was a chick

This one in particular is spot-friggin'-on. One of the greatest things I ever did was take a salsa class. At first, I was incredibly nervous--not just because I'd never taken a dance class before, but because I was the only guy who showed up on his own (which turned out to be a good thing, anyway)--but soon I really looked forward to it every week. It's a lot of fun, very social, and gives you an excellent excuse to hold a girl's hand.
