Anyone been cheated on but worked it out?

Hey guys,

I'm new to this thing. I'm a mutual friend with this guy and this girl. The girl cheated and the guy is torn. It's hard being in the middle and seeing both of them. I know the girl loves him and that what happened was a major mistake on her part. And I also know the guy is still in love with her, but I'm just not sure if he's willing to work it out with her because he's not sure if it's ultimately worth it even though he cares deeply for her. Is there anybody who has been cheated on or cheated on somebody and managed to work it out? ANY advice?
