Uh! this is sticky enough that I'd come to askmehelpdesk for a little bit of help... i have friends and stuff who give me advice but i just think some outside perspective would be so great...
Anyway here's the deal... me and this guy met at my surprise birthday party last year on April 1st, he was the only one i DIDN'T KNOW and he basically crashed it but he was cute so it was okay (lol)... then we ran into eachother again at my friends birthday party (Dec 12). If was after THIS party that my friend had the brilliant idea of getting us together... so we started texting.. YES TEXTING... he said he had this THING with talking on the phone so whatever... Well we basically started talking everyday (starting in Jan) just getting to know eachother, and the more and more i learned about him the more i started liking him... I know it sounds crazy but he has my sense of humor, he's intelligent, he's witty blah blah blah...

So for Valentines day i surprised him at work with some of his favorite candies and some CD'S he wanted... he was really surprised and thought it was really sweet of me... So we've hung out a few times and we always have so much fun, most of the time we're just laughing! Now my problem with him is, i get conflicting messages from him, sometimes i think he likes me and then sometimes I'm not sure, sometimes he's open and a lot of times he's hard to read...

Anyway he's leaving to the Navy in April, i walked into this knowing he was gonna leave but making it clear that i knew we couldn't form a relationship... and we both agreed that we didn't want to mess with a long distance relationship... SOOOO the other day my friend (who's boyfriend works at the same place) went to to visit him and asked him when we're gonna hang out again (meaning me and him) and he said "I don't know... I'm kinda scared to hang out with her because I'm leaving soon"

UH!!! What does that mean?? He never makes it clear how he feels about me to ME but he'll tell her that? What do you all think that means? Thanks guys

I think it means that the two of you seem to have the agreement that you are not going to get closer, and he doesn't want to risk that happening since he is leaving soon, so he just relayed that message to your friend. That message seems to be the same to her as what you have told him you expected. He may be afraid that he might change his mind, or that you might if he hangs out with you more... you wont know unless you ask him.

sounds like this guy likes you, and he's just scared to get close to you as he'll be leaving soon. many people/couples do this when they know they're about to leave...

right now, I'm a senior in college, and with 2 months left before graduation, it's break up season for all couples.

so...I think it'd be nice to hang out with him, but make sure the both of you fully understand what's up...it seems like you guys already to. good luck. and have fun.
