Anyone know of a good Dance Studio in Dallas...

8 Answers Just like the title says, are there any good dance studios in the Dallas area. With that in mind are they somewhat cheap and up to what age do they take in students? Please reply. |

| FYI...if I were unbiased and simply answering your question, I'd say it depends on WHICH dance you're interested in learning, and WHY you're wanting to learn. If you want the group classes for the "cheers" atmosphere where everyone know's your name...then a studio is fine. You'll probably over pay, but it's a place to congregate, socialize and feed your ego. (ie...not naming any names, but there is a very prominent studio in this area that charges $137 for 40 minutes of instruction. NOT ONE HOUR, but 40 minutes. And yes - that's one hundred and thirty seven dollars. But hey--they know you're name! If you really want to learn to dance so you can get out and meet people, use it socially, as a hobby, a date night, for exercise, etc...if you actually want to be able to dance, then do your homework. Research the independent instructors in your area. Most of us specialize in one dance or another. Mine is West Coast Swing and Country. Anyway, good luck and happy dancing to all! | ||||

| I've been getting dance instruction from Gene Willman, off and on, for the past two years. He's an awesome teacher and makes it really fun. I had a real hard time getting even the basic movements down when I started dancing, but in Gene's lessons he breaks down the parts of a dance to make it very simple and easy to learn. | Try http://www.thehythmroom.net they have really fun, experienced teachers, they don't rake you over the coals cost-wise and they don't force you into a contract. They teach a huge range of dances and styles, so if you're not sure what you want to take, you can check out lots of different types of dance. Elaine hewlett is one of the primary instructors, she is dallas' lindy hop/swing dance goddess! | ||||

| Well, I wish cool dance studios such as IDA Hollywood would be in Dallas. But, Powerhouse of Dallas seems pretty good. Sometimes, I feel like some studios in Dallas overpay you, and they teach you so little. But, I guess you got to pay the whole thing to learn some dance. Some dance studios only teach one type of dance. Like, a ballet studio. Powerhouse of Dallas teaches Power dancing, one of the most expensive classes. The Dallas Black Academy is best for ballet and slow dancing, I'm guessing. | ||||

| Dance Machines Dance Studio in Coppell, Tx. - is a studio that has been around for 28 years that has a competition team and recital classes as well for all ages and adults. They attend dance conventions too. And they have tumbling and cheer. Tuition is within reason as well. We love it there. | ||||
