Stolen phone - am I stuck with phone charges?
My cell phone was stolen recently and the guy who stole it called all over the place, adding about $175 in phone charges to our phone bill. I reported it stolen to Qwest, but they say the charges are still my responsibility. I am planning to refute the bill, but I don't know the correct terminology to use in my coorespondence. Any input/advice is appreciated.

    Thanks.

It will depend on your contract. Read what the contract says, normally you are not responsible for charges after you report it stolen, but may be on charges before you report it.

    HI,
As a past Customer Care Representative for one of the largest cell phone companies, you might need a Police Report, to be faxed, to your celll phone company.
As the previous answer said, you should NOT be responsible for any charges made, AFTER you reported it stolen. If you did not report it stolen to the Police and/or you cell phone company, you may by responsible for those charges; because they can say you "loaned" your phone to someone else.
I do wish you the best, and good luck.

I agree. Go to the police and report it stolen to them as well.

Filing a police report can make it look "official" in their eyes.
