couldn't care less how much an owner invests in his team. But, there should not be protection from competition by the government, to the extent that Congress protects professional sports through an exemption to anti-trust - it should be stopped.
| Very fair point. But you do know that only MLB has anti-trust codified. That hasn't stopped NFL from being monopolistic.
The NFl has lost every single anti-trust suit against them and that hasn't prevented them from either squashing or assimilating any competition that has tried to go against them .
Truth be told.......people prefer the single "national" league format for their sports. Even college sports are evolving into a single league format with the BCS . |

| Lebron James won't help them .They are cursed . The league rigged for them to get Patrick Ewing and they still ended up being second fiddle to the Jordon Bulls.
Look at it this way. For every YIN Yanks and Giants team we have there is a YANG Mets,Jets,Nets .In fact ;any team that ends in an ETS is cursed. |

| I guess I've mellowed over the years...fantasy sports tends to make you a fan of more than just your guys. I even find myself (gulp) cheering on Eli Manning, Brandon Jacobs, McNabb and the Iggles defense on Sunday. This week I will even root for Clinton Portis. That's saying something for a lifelong Cowboys fan. But I still hate the Yankees.
Now, wanna see something odd in baseball? Watch this video. Maybe someone can explain the custom here... |

| Well. none of you suffer like Cubs fans. We standardized 'wait 'til next year'. It has been over 100 years since we have won a world series.......100 YEARS!!!!!
They have done scientific studies on the begotten Cubbie fans. And how they can come back each year, fill the stadium and cheer for their lovable losing Cubbies.
Not to mention the GOAT!!!
I gave up on those ba*t*rds in the 80's. When they went to the Padre's in the playoffs and lost 4 straight. I burned all things Cubs then........
You'd think...Chicago....maybe someone could have put in a 'fix' by now...again...100 YEARS!
I want to puke, I am so ashamed, hiding my head now. |

"The Curse of the Bambino was a superstition cited as a reason for the failure of the Boston Red Sox baseball team to win the World Series in the 86-year period from 1918 until 2004. While some fans took the curse seriously, most used the expression in a tongue-in-cheek manner." Curse of the Bambino - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia |

| I have never seen a Cub team that won (period) Ha ha, now you know why I don't like these Cubbies. Even if given free tickets to a catered box, I give them away.

| the goat is real . The Cubbies are the perfect example that the money spent on a team is not the indicator of outcome.
The Cubbies spent $134 million in payroll ;3rd behind the Mets.
I have been rooting for Cubbie success for years . They have a team that should . |

"Loveable Cubbies"...Yeah right!
I am a Bears fan and we suffer too. I don't understand, Chicago is a world class city and we cannot consistently field a winner in most sports. Sure there were the Jordon Bulls and the '85 Bears (the recent trip to the SB doesn't count...Doe eyes in the headlights) and the White Sox champs a few years ago (who cares)...
Being raised in Pittsburgh I am also a Steelers fan, I earned that right as I was a fan prior to the '70's when they were the floor mat of the NFL and then they learned how to win. Thank God that I have at least one team to root for that can and does know how to win.
Any way, I played baseball all my life, love the game; high school through college. And couched Pony baseball through Palomino for 14 years. We even won the DuPage County championship.
I think that winning has a LOT to do with being committed and totally being a team player something that I believe that the Cubs don't have and may never have.
Sorry for this long post, but my disgust for them is bubbling to the top....
