Uh, that is the team name. Hard to announce a game between the New Yorks and the New Yorks, and the Dallases vs the Washingtons just doesn't have the same ring as Cowboys vs. Redskins.

P.S. I wonder when the language police will start bleeping out the offending name here.

I'm not the one saying a black man that doesn't fall in line is a racist.

Who're we talking about? The black guy who wrote the racist letter you liked, or the owner of the Redskins???

Take your pick. We're all racists to you if we don't fall in line.

NFL To Meet Oneida Indian Nation Officials About Redskins Name Controversy

Halbritter, whose tribe runs a large casino resort in Verona in central New York, says the name is degrading and has devastating effects, especially on younger Indians.

The tribe began pushing for a name change recently as the Washington Redskins faced fresh waves of criticism over their nickname. Even President Barack Obama weighed in, saying recently he would "think about changing" the name if he owned the team.

It wasn't initially known where in the city the meeting will be held or if NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell will attend.

There was no immediate comment Friday from the NFL. A league spokesman had previously said it is important that the NFL listen to all perspectives.

Washington Redskins owner Dan Snyder has said he will never change the team's name and Goodell has said that it is ultimately Snyder's call.
Racists, even unintentional ones never listen, they justify when confronted by those that are offended. They are often more offended than the person they offended in the first place.

    Hello again, Steve:

I can see you're hurt.. Buck up, winger. We have fights to fight. Look. You don't have to fall in line with ME. You don't have to fall in line at ALL, as far as I'm concerned.

But, the LINE is set by society. I didn't set it. You didn't set it. But, it's SET. In YOUR circles, the line is way over to the right. For YOU guys, it's FINE to make fun of ethnicities, and it's fun to deny they're OFFENDED by it. If they're offended, it shows how SOFT they are, and might even be UN-American. Besides, it's another reason to make fun of them...

In the letter you like, the guy is a racist. It matters NOT that he's black. The fact that you posted it, then threw your hands in the air with wide eyed look of innocence, and said it was HIS opinion - NOT yours, so obviously, you're BLAMELESS.

    But, you're NOT blameless.

The problem is this is one of those things in which we're on the same side but you'd rather demonize us for political ends instead of fighting actual racism, which perpetuates the problem and diminishes actual instances.

Racism is about fear, and hatred, and POWER, and where and how and against who or what its directed at.

You want to fight racism, then listen to the offended and ask WHY? Not just accept the OFFENDERS, no matter how well intentioned. Mr. Snyder ignores the offended to perpetrate his own tradition. He says he will NOT change. What he is saying is he won't listen to those that are OFFENDED.

He doesn't have to be a racist to not listen. But his power to offend can no longer be denied, nor his justification of his tradition he wishes to market. He has the power to listen and change and he chooses not to.

I will add that reference to the collective "you guys", or "us" is not personally directed at you.

I didn't start that thread and invite people to let me have it. If I did I wouldn't get mad if I got what I asked for.

I'll do what I please regardless on what pejorative you use to describe it. It's fun calling you out, or anyone out, on misrepresentations and hypocrisy.

For a guy that throws a lot of rocks it was a curious thing to say (no comment from you NK, mind your own business). Did you not read where we're on the same side on racism, Tal? Should we work together to end actual racism or are you going to let ideology blind you?
