Obama: "Lay off my wife"

On Good Morning America Mr. Obama warned the GOP to "lay off my wife."

Let's see, you can't talk about...

- his 20 year relationship with his preacher
- his mobster and terrorist friends
- his name
- his upbringing
- his mother
- his father
- his ears
- his color
- his lack of color
- his extreme liberalism
- his lack of experience
- his legislative record
- his patriotism
- his own words

And now, his wife. Did I miss anything? You can of course go after McCain's wife if this place is any indication. I say if he's going to send her out to stump for him her words and deeds are fair game. And you?

He sure sounds like he's practicing to be the President all right. President of what, I don't know.

Let's just have a look at some of Michelle's wacky quotes while on the campaign trail:

Quote:
"We have lost the understanding that in a democracy, we have a mutual obligation to one another — that we cannot measure the greatness of our society by the strongest and richest of us, but we have to measure our greatness by the least of these. That we have to compromise and sacrifice for one another in order to get things done. That is why I am here, because Barack Obama is the only person in this who understands that. That before we can work on the problems, we have to fix our souls. Our souls are broken in this nation."

But he's not really the only person...

Quote:
“There is still a lot of hard work that we as a country need to do. They can’t look to any one individual, whether it’s Barack or it’s the next new hope that’s going to appear to be that savior. And I would just hate for people to sort of see this potential and think: Oh, now I can rest easy because Barack Obama is going to fix things. It doesn’t work that way.”

Or is he?

Quote:
“Iowa will make the difference,” Mrs. Obama said. “If Barack doesn’t win Iowa, it is just a dream. If we win Iowa, then we can move to the world as it should be.”

And then...

Quote:
For the first time in my adult lifetime, I am really proud of my country. And not just because Barack has done well, but because I think people are hungry for change.”

Quote:
Obama begins with a broad assessment of life in America in 2008, and life is not good: we’re a divided country, we’re a country that is “just downright mean,” we are “guided by fear,” we’re a nation of cynics, sloths, and complacents.

And the kicker for this post...

Quote:
"I come to this with a lot of interesting talents, but I think it would be unfair of me to say today what I would do in a couple of years. I need to be prepared to do what the country needs me to do at the time. Whether that’s baking cookies or serving as a wonderful hostess, that’s my job. I have to be prepared to do what’s necessary. And we won’t know what that’s going to be until we get there. I will be staunchly invested. It is a joint project.

Steve do I have to amend the Obama Rules ?

As I recall ;Jerry Thompson was called a trophy wife and if I read it correctly ,Obama supporters are poised to make an issue about Cindy McCain's addiction to pain killers after she had spinal surgery . The Clintoons were "pimping" their daughter according to Obama supporting "reporter" David Schuster. .

Look ;it 's very simple . He has made her a major part of the campaign. If Obama doesn't want her to come under scrutiny then I politely suggest he doesn't use her on the stump. It would be criminal to silence her and just as criminal to silence her critics.

Frankly the things she says are outrageous.
You posted some of them but if I believe the internet rumors (and there is good reason to believe them true) ;then the tip of the iceberg has only been heard. Larry Johnson over at No Quarters blog has been covering it for some time .
Obama Freakout Over Michelle Video: The Ticking “Whitey” Time Bomb : NO QUARTER

The story is gaining traction because of a recent twist . Suffice it to say that there is a Republican billionaire who hates McCain who is desperately trying to get his hands on the tape before the Dems. choose Obama because if he gets it released then he is sure the Obama campaign would be derailed . He would rather McCain face Evita who he thinks can beat McCain. Rather than McCain facing a weakened Obama after the video becomes eventually released as an ' October Suprise'.

Anyway I give Obama some points for standing up to defend his wife. He goes too far in saying she is out of bounds ;but he wouldn't be a man if he didn't stand up for her.

Does this election process get as boring for you guys as it does for the rest of the world? I know tom will say he appreciates the length of it because it has given everyone an opportunity to dig dirt up on the candidates. But surely it gets tiresome??

Skell had both paries gotten their wish the thing would've been settled by early Febuary and there would've been a bit of a reprieve until the summer conventions. Fortunately for us the Democrat candidate is not settled and they have had a chance to vette out an unknown narcissist . They are hell bent to nominate him anyway it appears but at least we aren't going into this blind.

I remind you that a backbencher could not pull this act in a parlimentary system. You have your party leaders and you know them well. You have cabinets basically ready to go . That means your election process can be streamlined ... ours can't . I want to know the candidate and the people the candidate surrounds themselves with . That means we need a protracted process.

Well finally! A man, a real man, a husband that takes up for his wife. Thank you- Obama! He's not some drugstore cowboy down in Crawford Texas leaning on a bright red tractor with one foot propped up on hay bails doing photo ops.

Obama's interview was great! That was one of the most down to earth and reasonable interviews I've heard lately. In fact, let me take this one step further: I'm "NOT" proud of my country on a daily bases either. The next time I'm proud may be in November and that would be the first time in a long time. Especially considering the current wing nutcase sitting in the White House that's at the helm of our government misrepresenting it's own people's good.

BTW concerning your signature on John Hagee. I think he's a long way from interfaith understanding. Just a reality check to inform the McCainites, Hagee's not coming to the shul (Jewish Synagogue) to lay tefillin and be included in the minyan anytime soon. He's welcome if wants to come, but he has to sit in the back and keep his fat mouth shut so that he might learn something. As for his Catholic flip-flopping, maybe he doesn't believe the Catholic church is the great whore anymore or that their going to split hell wide open. Perhaps Hagee finally informed the Pope and the Cardinals of his special code to access heaven's gate?!

Bobby .. you would agree then with McCain that his wife's tax records are not an issue in this campaign ?

I say none of the spouses are immune because they have all injected themselves into the campaign ;and since Eleanore Roosevelt;almost all have served in the White House in roles greater than hostess and housewife .

LOL, I'm starting to agree with Skell, this is getting silly. But, has anyone noticed that all of the outrage over racism and sexism is on the Democrat side? Of course, politics is not just a full contact sport in America, guys

Absolutely, that's a given. Nevertheless, he can't seriously expect to have her front and center on the campaign trail without her being scrutinized.
