Obama and NAFTA

During Tues debate Obama and Evita traded gotcha charges about who is more serious about reforming NAFTA . This is an issue that resonates in Ohio where many people mistakenly blame NAFTA for job losses in the State. Both said they would deep six the treaty and renegotiate .

According to Canadian TV however ,Obama had an operative contact the Canadians to assure them that he was just demagoguing the issue ;that he really planned no changes to the treaty if elected .

The Obamans have denied the charge and said it was a smear. This did not sit well with the Canadians . Guess they don't like being called liars . So they released the name of the Obama flunkie involved . That would be Austan Goolsbee ;Obama's sr.economic adviser.
CTV.ca | Obama campaign mum on NAFTA contact with Canada
They are also reporting that Canadian officals are confirming the story.

So is Obama that great agent of change that the people of Ohio are praying for or is he just pandering and playing politics as usual ? This gaffe could change the tide in Ohio and be the thing that propels Evita to a must win victory there .

Oops? Obama is nothing but smoke and mirrors with a preacher's voice. Like I pointed out yesterday he's been running around Texas advertising he's the only candidate that doesn't take special interest money for his campaign. Smoke and mirrors. His rhetoric on Iraq is smoke and mirrors. Now he's talking out of both sides of his mouth on NAFTA? This could be be devastating to his campaign - I wonder the Slimes will dare explore this in any detail? That thud you hear is the thrill falling back down Chris Matthews' leg

read the link . The Report is from CTV (Canadian TV )

then read this one
Canada's prime minister warns US it would be making a mistake to reopen NAFTA - International Herald Tribune

Then read Evita's team's response :

Quote:
"I frankly have found the Obama campaign's responses to this less than definitive. Has Austan Goolsbee had any contact with anyone in the Canadian government, in the Canadian emabssy, or tried to send a message to individuals there to indicate that Senator Obama's criticism of NAFTA was not sincere? It's a simple question."

"If the Canadian reporting is true, it is a major development in this campaign. He is saying one thing and doing another."

He of course is way off in his rhetoric about NAFTA . The question is ;what does he really think ?

I always get a good chuckle when you talk about folks sliming others. Besides, maybe we just don't want the white half of Obama elected

What a politician says and what he/she means are not always the same, now are they?

They are lying through their teeth . They will not scrap NAFTA because it has been a net bonus for the US and they know it.
