The new racial divide

Asked Feb 26, 2009, 11:23 AM — 33 Answers
It's becoming clear that the racial divide is not only not healed by the election of the nation's first black president, the left plans on widening the gap. From Gloria Borger of CNN's remark that "right now, quite frankly, the Republican Party looks more like the Confederacy," to what appears to be a now removed post from yesterday with a similar reference, to Chris Matthews explanation of his "oh God" crack when Bobby Jindal was introduced on MSNBC on Tuesday, the new line is to divide the nation between Obama and his supporters and the GOP "confederacy."
I was taken aback by that peculiar stagecraft, the walking from somewhere in the back of this narrow hall, this winding staircase looming there, the odd anti-bellum look of the scene. Was this some mimicking of a president walking along the state floor to the East Room?
I guess Chris "thrill up his leg" Matthews didn't know the Louisiana governor's mansion was built in 1963 when Democrat Jimmie Davis - who fought for racial segregation - was governor, but that's another story. Matthews was probably too busy "outsourcing" his research to know that.

Is that what we can expect more of from the left, talking up the new GOP "confederacy"? Is the left really interested in racial harmony?

I'm not impressed with either of them myself. But this isn't about who has who, it's about who's really the racist pigs.

Hello again, Steve:

Rightaroonie. I guess Coulter was talking about the rain when she called John Edwards a fagot.

Look. You do NOT have the moral high ground here. Let's just say that there are ugly people on BOTH sides of the spectrum...

Ex, you know good and well that I've always agreed there are ugly people on both sides and there are extremes on both sides, but again that isn't really the point. Obama's hopenchange message was "together we can." The left side spouts platitudes about tolerance, diversity and racial harmony religiously. In one breath they spew outrage over any perceived slight and the very next they spew incredible intolerance and hatred without blinking..and the only part of it they're sincere in is their hatred.

If they want racial harmony, tolerance and diversity it's time they practiced it because I'm damned tired of being called a racist.

I agree wholeheartedly with speech.
The white man has no monoply on racism.
When nearly 100% of black voters support the black candidate, that's RACIST!
Can you imagine the squeals from the media whores if 90+% percent of whites had voted for McCain?

Hello gal:

Actually, it's not.

Rac⋅ism   noun

1. A belief or doctrine that inherent differences among the various human races determine cultural or individual achievement, usually involving the idea that one's own race is superior and has the right to rule others.

2. A policy, system of government, etc., based upon or fostering such a doctrine; discrimination.

3. Hatred or intolerance of another race or other races.

It must be included in the current definition. According to liberal professor Robert S. McElvaine "the legacy of slavery and the Civil War continue to cast a heavy shadow over the South" because of the percentage of white voters for McCain in the former confederacy.

Keep trying ex, Gal was right.

Now the GOP is back to being Nazis according to CNN's D.L. Hughley.
D.L. HUGHLEY: ...The tenets of the Republican Party are amazing and they seem warm and welcome. But when I watch it be applied -- like you didn't have to go much further than the Republican National Convention.

MICHAEL STEELE: Agreed.

HUGHLEY: It literally look[s] like Nazi Germany -- it really did. I make -- said that point. It just does not seem -- like not only are we not welcome -- not only are we not welcome, but they don't even care what we think. And that --
Hughley went on to say what Republicans do is "reactionary." They get an Obama, the GOP gets a Steele. I guess he missed where a Republican appointed the first female on the Supreme Court and all the previously mentioned firsts of the Bush administration. Steele pointed out "there was a Michael Steele before there was a Barack Obama...the only black lieutenant governor in the country at the time."

Perhaps if blacks would stop expecting a party to cater to their every feeling they might see that the GOP doesn't see people as black or white, they just see people...all with great potential and value.

Hello again, Steve:

Funny. George just called Obama a Nazi.

Generally people who point fingers have the moral high ground. You don't!

I don't look or sound like George and George ain't on TV. We've already been down this ugly things on both sides road, but so far in this thread the only side that loudly and proudly in leadership and media figures that claims the moral high ground here who are displaying racism and intolerance is the left.
