| again my point is a big part of the motivation for the attack was to post a "shock video" on these types of forums. Just google "girls attack " on the web and see what you come up with. This is criminal behavior that is being promoted by allowing this to be posted on these sites .
What's next ;snuff video ? |

| I agree, this is stupid. The people brought on the urge to do it though. YouTube never said, hey allof you posters, please, we need the most outrageous video, you will get lot's of attention and make our site the best! They never said that. Just because there is opportunity to do bad, doesn't mean we should take it. We all should know better!! |

| I wish these fights were not allowed to be posted. We had a fight at one of the schools in my town and not only was it posted on Myspace and You Tube it was on all of the major t.v. stations. The kids and parents were guest on shows like Tyra Banks, Good Morning America to name a few. I wonder if they got paid....Whether they were or not I am sure there are kids that worship them now and kids that want to video a more violent fight ( I've heard a lot of kids think that it was a soft fight) so it would not suprise if this same school is not on the news again.
I wonder if these kids are going to be invited on all the major shows. I hope not I think it just encourages and rewards bad behavior. |

| This is sad, and part of the problem is technology is advancing faster than the law... And its hard to come up with a policy for every situation, because someone will always think of something that doesn't violate the policy. And let's face it, we're in the good 'ol USA; you take someone's video down and they're likely to sue you (and win).
I hope parents start educating their children more about acceptable behavior, not only online, but also in person. There is a whole generation of "precious little snowflakes" right now whose parents think they can do no wrong, so they end up doing things like this and wonder what the problem is.
I hope all the people involved are punished. And I hope this forces ALL public forum sites to monitor their sites better and develop policies to prevent such things from going up. Moderating is hard, especially on the size and scope that myspace and youtube operate under, but it's not impossible. |

| all the more reason for them to take more interest in self monitoring . I do not know what pressure can be brought to bear on them. Do they advertise on other sites or take ads ? I wonder how they would respond to a growing campaign to get servers to block them based on the public pressure ? |

ISPs aren't going ot block access to certain sites because they're not really allowed to. Look at the whole thing that just went down with Comcast and bittorrent traffic. If ISPs start filtering traffic like that, they're in danger of losing comman carrier status, and then everything that goes through the network, be it illegal downloads from P2P, hacking attempts...anything of that nature, is all specifically their responsibility, and not their customers.
A third way would be to configure rules in your router to not route traffic destined to specific IP addresses and ranges, but thats out of the question because even a lot of tech-savvy people can't do that.
The lesson is that parents really do have to keep an eye on their kids... I'm part of that generation where parents just don't care enough about what we're doing. Mine didn't really keep a close eye on me...but they didn't have to. I was raised knowing right from wrong. And I'm sure if I had started to act out at all, they would have been all over me, but the fact is that parents see their kids starting to act out, and they don't take responsibility for it.
Guns don't kill people.
Video games and TV shows aren't babysitters.
The internet doesn't commit hate crimes.
I would say that violence and drugs and alcohol are easier for kids to get than they used to be...but all that technology that makes things available, also makes it easier to check ID and lock down security. In my opinion, it's parenting that's at fault for most of the things people blame the media for. |
