How did Obama score after explanation about him and Wright?

The American people did not buy nor embrace Obama's Spin when he went on the defensive trying to explain away his relationship with Rev. Wright:

Wright flap may hurt Obama - CNN.com

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- After tapes of inflammatory statements made by Sen. Barack Obama's pastor came out last weekend, it appears to have had some negative impact on the Illinois senator.

Sen. Barack Obama and his church's former pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, in a 2005 photograph.

Nationally, Obama's lead over Sen. Hillary Clinton narrowed in a poll of polls -- which included CBS News, USA Today and Gallup.

The polls, taken between March 14-18, show Obama with 49 percent to Clinton's 43 percent.

"I don't think there is any doubt that the [Rev.] Jeremiah Wright controversy played a role in the 10-point drop in his favorable ratings," said pollster Terry Madonna. Watch reaction to Wright's comments »

Some of Wright's old sermons came under fire after a news report last week turned some of his most controversial comments into a YouTube phenomenon.

In one, the minister said America had brought the September 11 attacks upon itself. In another, he said Clinton had an advantage over Obama because she is white.

Speaking in Pennsylvania at Philadelphia's National Constitution Center Wednesday, Obama, a Democratic presidential candidate, said he rejected racially charged comments.

"Did I strongly disagree with many of his political views? Absolutely -- just as I'm sure many of you have heard remarks from your pastors, priests or rabbis with which you strongly disagreed."

The controversy appears to be having a big effect in Pennsylvania.

Among Pennsylvania Democratic primary voters, Clinton's lead over Obama more than doubled from last month, according to polls.

Obama's association with Wright appeared to be hurting him as of last weekend.

A Franklin & Marshall College Poll taken February 13-18 showed Clinton with 44 percent, Obama with 37 percent. When voters were asked March 11-16, Clinton had 51 percent to Obama's 36 percent.

A Gallup tracking poll, taken from March 15-21, showed Obama's race speech may have helped him.

Clinton started moving ahead of Obama last weekend when the Wright story broke. By Tuesday, she had a statistically significant 7-point lead.

Then Obama spoke about his relationship with Wright and his view of race relations. Clinton's lead began to narrow, to 5 points and, as of Friday, 2 points.

Friday's results -- statistically, a tie -- represent the first poll in which all interviews were done after Obama's speech"

Gallup Tracking Poll: Obama Regaining Support After Wright Race Speech

Senator Barack Obama’s campaign has gotten some good news — one of several bits of good news in recent days: a new Gallup tracking poll shows him on the rebound after the firestorm over his pastor’s comments and Obama’s heavily covered speech on race:

Barack Obama has quickly made up the deficit he faced with Hillary Clinton earlier this week, with the latest Gallup Poll Daily tracking update on Democratic presidential nomination preferences showing 48% of Democratic voters favoring Obama and 45% Clinton.

Obama’s campaign clearly suffered in recent days from negative press, mostly centering around his association with the controversial Rev. Jeremiah Wright. Perhaps as a result, Clinton moved into the lead in Gallup’s Wednesday release, covering March 16-18 polling. But Obama has now edged back ahead of Clinton due to a strong showing for him in Friday night’s polling, perhaps in response to the endorsement he received from well-respected New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson, a former rival for the nomination.

The poll news could not come at a worse time for Clinton. Obama was on the defensive. But in recent days the media has begun to ask if it’s now the beginning of the end for the Clinton campaign. You also have to wonder how Superdelegates will feel about one little political tidbit: the reportedly actively and recently sought Richardson’s support, but once Obama got it a campaign spokesman said it didn’t matter. Richardson fired right back saying it was “typical of some of his advisers that kind of turned me off.”

Meanwhile, despite the thumbs down from some talk radio and cable show hosts, a CBS poll indicates that Obama’s race speech general got good reviews. He did pay a price, though: fewer people now think he has the capacity to unite the country.

Sixty-nine percent of voters who have heard or read about Obama’s speech say he did a good job addressing the issue of race relations, and 63 percent of voters following the events say they agree with Obama’s views on race relations. Seventy-one percent say he did a good job explaining his relationship with Wright.

When registered voters were asked if Obama would unite the country, however, 52 percent said yes - down from 67 percent last month

What remains for the Clinton camp? Although The Politico recently ran a piece saying Clinton has no chance and coverage is essentially now a media game, Clinton’s chances still seem a bit short of what the must-read website called “a myth.” Even though the numbers are against her, if there is some huge revelation about Obama, his support could collapse and the Superdelegates might step in at the convention.

But it’s now the longest of long shots, particularly since the Richardson endorsement, which longtime Clinton friend and strategist James Carville likened to Judas betraying Jesus.

The likelihood is that the campaign is going to get much rougher in coming weeks, as Clinton seeks to win Pennsylvania by a whopping landslide and overtake Obama in North Carolina. Obama, in turn, will work to narrow her margin in Pennsylvania and pull out all stops to win North Carolina.

A big problem for Clinton: right now Obama has a decided edge in campaign funds. Which means when he wants to pull out all stops he has the big bucks to do it."

May? It clearly has! And it isn't going away anytime soon! The media simply is enamoured with his clever words and wants him to be the Democratic frontrunner thus, their careful word choice to downplay the serious damage this has done to his campaign.

Really? That's news to a whole lot of people! But you know, polls are like seesaws they go up and down and few, if any, are elected simply because of the polls. Look at what happened with TRUMAN!

In order to truly guage the pulse of the public, you have to listen to what the public is saying because therein lies the key though they too can be changeable, just like the weather, and go to the opposite camp as things continue to develop for a particular candidate. The tough questions, therefore, CONTINUE for Obama and he needs to prepare or make up some new answers, fast!

He can't depend on money alone to pull out all stops. It is ultimately People who are going to decide this race. If Obama tries to BUY this election, then the country will be unequivocally convinced that he was less than disingenuous about wanting real CHANGE! Therefore, let's put his money to the test and see some self-aggrandizement!

To see who Really COUNTS, take a look at what the Voting Public is saying about Obama's speech concerning Wright. It is clearly hurting him no matter what the current spin!

That's why I posted the newest news and polls. The "opinion" you posted was older, by a day or two. Not only that, but I posted several sources and your posting was from Republican blog. Hello! A "blog." Mine was from a factual news source. Spin?! The spin started in your washing machine and unfortunately it was just too soiled to be true. Obama's not trying to buy an election, what kind of nonsense is that? Advertising is a normal part of campaigning in a national election. Remember, if Obama wins the nomination, McCain will get to reflect all his supporters arguments in a debate. Let's see how well that turns out for you.

elections are not bought . If it was a matter of fund raising then Ron Paul would be the Republican candidate.

The average person sees Rev Wright perform and says to themselves that if someone sits through these hate filled semons for 20 years they either are repulsed by them or accept them .For most of us it is hard enough to sit through a sermon we agree with !

Now as the media awakens from it's slumber or star-struck adoration and begins to examine him the blanks are being filled in.

Take the case of Emil Jones ;Obama's mentor in the Ill. State Senate .Jones assigned to Obama legislation that was championed by others so Obama could pad his pathetic record in the State legislature .

Quote:
You have the power to elect a US senator,” Obama told Emil Jones, Democratic leader of the Illinois state senate. Jones looked at the ambitious young man smiling before him and asked, teasingly: “Do you know anybody I could make a US senator?”

According to Jones, Obama replied: “Me.” It was his first, audacious step in a spectacular rise from the murky political backwaters of Springfield, the Illinois capital.
Quote:
At one point during Obama’s 2003 Senate campaign, Jones set out to woo two African-American politicians miffed by Obama’s presumption and ambition. One of them, Rickey “Hollywood” Hendon, a state senator, had scoffed that Obama was so ambitious he would run for “king of the world” if the position were vacant.

When Jones secured the two men’s support, Obama asked his mentor how he had pulled it off. “I made them an offer,” Jones said in mock-mafioso style. “And you don’t want to know.”
Barack Obama: toxic mentors start to corrode pristine campaign - Times Online

Nothing wrong with that of course . This is how typical politicans play the game . But Obama has been portrayed as something different . A typical politician would as an example go to a church in the community he belongs to even if he did not agree with the spiritual message that was being told week in and week out. That is the only reason that makes sense . Obama has not rejected " middle-classness" and his rhetoric does not come close to agreeing with the Rev. Wright .

Does Obama believe in the liberation philosophy spewn by Rev. Wright ? I doubt it . So instead he first tried to say he had not been in attendance for all those years when Wright was saying controversial things .He later in his "I have a pastor " speech backtracked on that lie (another typical politician thing to do) .

The veneer is coming off and we are beginning to see the real Obama. That is what our political process seems designed to do . Will he survive it ? Probably . As things stand now it is likely that the Democrat candidate will win. But Obama's free ride is over .

That "hate-filled sermon" is now available in context on YouTube. (YouTube - Tell the Whole Story FOX! Barack Obama's pastor Wright) Myriads of apologies are coming in to Wright and Obama from all over the world. Obama's speech on race has opened the door to a painful self-examination by Americans. Clinton, the wife of the first "black" president, has played the race card to her detriment. Blacks are rethinking support of Clinton. Obama rises from the ashes like the proverbial phoenix.

From the sound of your post, seems like I struck a raw nerve! As to the difference between an ever-changing poll and a blog, Blogs reflect the actual pulse of the nation for your information. Polls can be off and often are. Remember the + or - percentage points they always allude to? But blogs are the "in" thing without having to fear accuracy! People truly can speak their mind (and often do) on whatever they wish to say to others and others take that information and pass it on to even more besides the millions across the world who read blogs and are influenced daily! Don't be fooled, that's how it works! So, I would rather read a blog anytime rather than quote from a poll that could swing 180 degrees to the other side before we even finish reading it! However, since you are currently having a love affair with polls, here are some you might be interested in, though Clinton may have broadened her lead even more as we speak.

CNN Political Ticker: All politics, all the time Blog Archive - Poll: Clinton takes national lead over Obama « - Blogs from CNN.com

Clinton Takes Lead:
MyDD :: Clinton retakes lead in Gallup tracking poll *UPDATED*

These polls may be just a few days old yet I know how you absolutely *LOVE *polls so I couldn't diappoint you, but most polls are not conducted daily as it takes time to call people and collect the data. And sorry, but the spin started all in your head as Obama continues to plummet in the poles after the Wright controversy among other things.

Tell you what, let's bring on a debate with either McCain or Hillary against Obama anytime, but first see what one of the "POLLS" has to say about Obama's chances against McCain! That should really send you into a tail 'spin'!! The Wright issue is going to continue to grind him through the meatgrinder as well as the rest of the stuff, don't you know. It is all that the nation is thinking about right now no matter how you try to spin or re-spin it for your guy. And let's take a reality check on that money thing also! We're interested in knowing what Obama plans to do with all that wealth of money that you allude to will help him stop Clinton or McCain! Let's just see if it can!
