Why is Philip Lucero still alive?
He was convicted of murdering Linda Christine Hubbard 7, and Teddy Engleman11 back in the early 1980's in Yucaipa Ca. He was sentenced to death and I believe exhausted and lost all appeals. There is no question of guilt. His only defense was "post traumatic stress disorder" from the Viet Nam war. All I want to know is why did he not receive his penalty?

    Hi Excon,
I just wanted to thank you for your response. I took your advice and it lead me to the Victim's Assistance division of the Dept of Corrections. I was given the latest status of PL's case. It wasn't what I wanted to hear, but I was ready for that. I am now on the contact list for receiving notices of any activity relating to his conviction. While the State of California Supreme Court has upheld his death conviction (in July of 2000), it is now in the beginning stages of Federal Appeals which averages 25 years. He is only in that stage by 8 years. He will die on death row but it will be from natural causes. Two little girls lives were cut short and their families and friends torn apart from his actions, but he will live a normal life span. I sarcastically thank the state of California for that injustice.

    Hello again, K:

I'm glad I was able to help.

For what it's worth, in my view, life locked up like that is WORSE than death.

    Excon,

I just read that Lucero paints in prison and even has an art teacher. How is this justice? Seriously.

    Hello J:

If you believe that a person is sent to prison AS punishment, and I DO, then BEING there is all the justice we're owed.

If, however, you believe a person is sent to prison FOR punishment, and I DON'T, then I can see how you would feel cheated.

    Hi... E,

I do understand your point. Well stated. But if a person takes the life of another, and in this case he brutally took the lives of two young girls, then how is it 'right' for Lucero to be given the 'freedom' and the tools to make art and learn and grow, which is the very thing that he robbed from Chrissy and Teddy? Why allow him even a glimmer of happiness... Ever...

    Hello again, J:

I'm not telling you how wonderful he is. I'm telling you how he should be treated.

I'm Alive(?) [ 16 Answers ]

I was at a ski resort, and heard a song that was really good, in my opinion, that had the hook "I'm Alive" in it. The song had a sort of creppy-funk vibe. Sorry I can't give more info, but it's been awhile since I heard it, and it's driving me crazy. Thx in advance for any help.
