What happens when you violate probation/parole in the State of New Jersey?

Asked Oct 14, 2007, 12:59 PM — 1 Answer
My fianc? Was arrested for selling drugs, and served all his time in a county jail. After he was released he was put on probation. Instead of staying in New Jersey to start his probation he left to Pennsylvania and has been there for almost two years. While he was going to work one morning he was pulled over for a random check. The police officer found that he did not have a license, then ran his name and found that he had a warrant from New Jersey. They gave him a ticket for driving without a license, but he is waiting to be (sorry if spelling is incorrect) extradited to New Jersey. I was told that due to the statue of limitations the state of pennsylvania can only hold him for so many days, and if New Jersey didn't show within those days they would have to release him. Is that true?

It has nothing to do with statue of limitation, but one state may only hold a person a certain time frame without a hearing, But on the scene the officer checks with the other state to see if they will come after them.

He will be sent back to NJ where he will serve the rest of his probation time in prison most likely
